Pressure breakers are required for differential pressures over 20 bar in order to minimize the load on the main packing seals and prevent dirt from entering the packing. Their applications range from technical gases to the process industry to air compressors for PET blow molding and industrial air generation.
The pressure breakers restrict the gas flowing from the cylinder to the packing through gaps acting as throttles (single-acting) or, during the intake cycle, also from the packing to the cylinder (double-acting). They are typically required at a differential pressure of above 20 bar. Pressure breakers are made of cast iron, bronze, PTFE, PEEK and other high-strength polymer materials.
