Innovation with HOERBIGER Technology

Holter Regelarmaturen GmbH & Co. KG (HORA) located in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock is a Hidden Champion in Germany's mechanical engineering market. The seven manufacturing cells, which produce specialty control valves for the water and steam cycles of power plants predominantly in lot sizes of 1 unit as self-directed work groups, are considered the benchmark among production experts. When it comes to operating the newly developed high-performance valves, HORA uses electrohydraulic valve actuators made by HOERBIGER.

HORA began manufacturing control valves for heating applications approximately half a century ago. Today, the Flow Control Division, which produces valves for building automation and industry, is a leading manufacturer. The current highlight of the portfolio is electronically controlled valves for climate control technology, which are also used in the Burj Kalifa in Dubai, at present the tallest building in the world.

A promising innovation is also the newly developed condensate quick-action valve for combined cycle power plants. In this application, HORA recently switched to electrohydraulic actuators made by HOERBIGER Automatisierungstechnik GmbH. A compelling feature of the powerful, self-sufficient and compact HOERBIGER actuators is that they continue to operate even if the central oil supply should fail. Thanks to a spring set, the system switches to safety mode in the event of a failure in the power supply or hydraulic system. Aside from the compact design of the electrohydraulic power unit, the HOERBIGER actuator stands out with its ATEX certification. The unit can be used directly at the target site within the potentially explosive zone, saving extensive additional piping as well as weather protection measures.

Committed to Top Performance

For decades, both the products and the manufacturing methods of HORA have been synonymous with first-class performance in the valve industry. The condensate quick-action valve for combined cycle power plants equipped with the electrohydraulic valve actuator made by HOERBIGER is only one example. Despite numerous accolades and lasting success of the company, HORA strives for continual optimization.
