2014 was an exceedingly successful year for the Strategic Business Unit Drive Technology. For the first time, the Business Unit managed to win the majority of new synchronizer contracts awarded worldwide through calls for bids during the fiscal year.
Sales of the Strategic Business Unit stabilized at the planned level of 328.2 million euros. Technological cost leadership is the engine for new growth.
Around the world, HOERBIGER is considered the prime partner for the development and production of synchronizers used in manual and automated transmissions, including dual-clutch transmissions.
Production plants are located in Schongau, Oberstenfeld and Penzberg in Germany, Changzhou in China, and Waterloo in Canada.
Customers of the Strategic Business Unit Drive Technology include major international, independent transmission manufacturers and virtually all the global automobile groups.
1,473 employees were working in the Strategic Business Unit Drive Technology at the end of 2014. The Strategic Business Unit Drive Technology coined the slogan SHIFT—ENGAGE—DRIVE for its future global activities.
