Railway vehicles use air from pressurised containers to facilitate braking. Such pressurised air is produced with the help of compressors. Railway brakes

For locomotives, there are three types of braking systems:

  • Pneumatic brakes (compressed air brake) are the main braking systems, which not only slow and stop the locomotive but also lock it when it is not operating.
  • Electrical brakes these are usually installed as booster brake in high-speed courses and with traction vehicles.
  • Mechanical brakes are used as hand or parking brake to
